This is a colorful time of year for the Mt. Vernon area of western Washington. It is time for the Tulip Festival. I'm not exactly sure what makes for good tulip growing. Why are most of them grown in Holland? Why are so many grown in La Conner, WA? I don't know, but when they are blooming it is colorful indeed. Many of the fields seemed to get planted in corn over the last few years but it looks like this year may be a bit of a comeback for the tulips. Jeanne and I took Bob and Lucy on Friday. It's not quite "peak" but there were still a couple good picture opportunities. Hope you enjoy and I'll be back next week with more.

Tulips are one of my very favorite flowers. Too bad I can't come see these.
We are heading up Thursday or Friday, if it isn't raining too badly. It's one of our favorite spring traditions. When the sun shines through the tulips it seems like fields of stained glass God's way.
FYI Tulips grow there well because the fields were tidal mud flats before they dredged it the same as Holland...and the same weather.
